Journey through Girona

We'll take you to the places you'd rather be. Off the beaten track or amongst the urban jungle, these destinations share the ethos behind our brand. Pack your bags and enjoy the journey. The fifth leg with our mate Sam Despotidis at his first stop in Girona of an 8 week trip, captured through the lens of Moment of Stoke.

Q: Where have you been so far?
Sam: Spent one week in a small Spanish town called Girona, and now in Mallorca. Been a blast exploring Palma and the rest of the island! There are so many hidden gems to be found.

Q: What was your favourite spot?
Sam: Blown away by a beach called Caló del Moro on the east coast, Sa Calobra on the west coast, then a town called Sóller.

Q: Was it smooth sailing or run into a couple mishaps?
Sam: We hired a car to get around the island, and must I say, driving on the other side of the road has been hit and miss (pun intended haha). The roads are so narrow getting to the exclusive beaches, so it’s been me VS the big busses trying to get through. Made for some funny stories that’s for sure.

Q: What kit did you pack? How do you keep your style on point while on the road? Any tips?
Sam: Maxed out my suitcase in Zanerobe of course! Plenty of Box Tees in different colours, black/white Rib Tanks, Mesh Shorts, ZR Football Trackpant, Swim Shorts and my favourite new items being the cropped shirts. So fresh! Best part is you can mix and match everything to easily make 10+ outfits. Quite the cheat code as I never feel like I’m wearing the same clothes.

Q: Best food you ate?
Sam: Oh man, Spanish tapas is unreal. I’m about to turn into a Garlic Prawn with a side of Sangria! So many delicious seafood and pasta dishes, I’m in heaven.

Q: How do you keep your style on point while on the road? Any tips?
Sam: It’s really hot here so wearing light clothing is essential. My best tip is to layer shorts, rib tank and shirt with your favourite pair of sneakers. It’s the most versatile combo of clothing to beat the weather and cobble stone paths.

Q: What's your go-to travel playlist or podcast to keep you entertained during long journeys?
Sam: The Spotify gods have been doing wonders with my Chill Mix and Upbeat Mix. Anything from Hip Hop to Electronic is the best way to feel good in this warm weather. When it’s time to wind down, a good Joe Rogan or Theo Von podcast goes a long way, especially for the plane rides.

Q: Beach bum or city explorer? Which was the split or this trip?
Sam: When travelling I am a Beach Bum all the way. As I live in Melbourne, I’ll take every chance to be by the water! Also the water here is hot AF, beats the icy cold ocean from back home haha.

Q: Any secret travel habits that you've picked up?
Sam: The first thing I do in any new city is I go for a run. It’s the best way to explore the area and find spots that are more unknown. I always like to escape the crowds, so I this to be the best trick to find hidden gems.

Q: How important is to travel with good people?
Sam: SO important. The best part about travelling is sharing memories with others, so it’s essential to have nothing but the best around you.

p>Q: Any spots that exceeded your expectations?
Sam: A beach called Caló del Moro was insane. Swimming in crystal clear blue water surrounded by tall cliffs and boujee yachts. You really felt like you were somewhere special.

Q: Where are you heading next?
Sam: Next stop is Croatia! Find me in Hvar and Split as I continue on this 8-week journey working/travelling through Europe.
